I can’t even believe I’m about to type this, but we are starting our last week of school! It is hard to believe we are already here, talking about wrapping up our year. What a year it has been!
Since my last few updates were mostly specifics about upcoming events with a lot of specific details, I chose to send them by email rather than posting on our blog. But this week I wanted to do a quick post about what we have been up to.
As you know, our priority these last couple of weeks have been our independent projects. The projects have been spectacular! We have had a wide range of topics and different presentation styles, and all have been informative and fun to watch. We’ve been visited by several animals, watched volcanos erupt, tasted homemade ice cream, panned for gold, learned the milking process of cows, and many more. Not only have the students been excellent presenters, they have also been supportive audiences. We’ve enjoyed watching their excitement as they watch each presentation, ask thoughtful questions, and encourage each other. Thank you all for your support and help with these projects.
In addition to independent projects, these last two weeks have been a lot of assessing. Lori has been completing the DRA reading assessments with students while I do the Bridges math assessments. We both have enjoyed the one on one time with the students, and reflecting on how much they have grown! It’s been exciting to be able to show the students how much progress they have made this year. All of the data we have collected will be part of the final report cards available in late June.

Shannon
